Golf Course Player Assistant Job Description

We are looking to add Golf Course Player Assistant to our team. See below for details and to apply for the position. Position Concept: The Player Assistant is one of the most visible employees of the facility. This position is tasked with directing the flow of traffic on the course, enforcing facility rules, assisting our member and guests with course etiquette, alerting MOD (manager on duty) of any course problems, promoting the facility and its events and assisting our members and guests with any on course issues. Due to the nature of the position the player assistant must be pleasant, helpful, and courteous but none confrontational at any time. Any refusal by the member or guest should be reported to the golf shop for the golf professional on duty. Do not be argumentative at any time.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Be on time for shift and come into golf shop for daily instructions regarding that days play.
  • Check in with Starter to see about the day's daily play.
  • Be an on course customer service specialist for the club & Resort.
  • Make sure your radio and cart are working properly.
  • Move around the course in reverse order 18 back to 1.
  • Communicate with the golf shop on a regular basis.
  • Keep cart and work area clean at all times.
  • Enforce all club and resort rules.
  • Keep players on the predetermined time to ensure proper pace of play.
  • Promote the facility programs and events.
  • Make sure you greet all the members and guests as you approach them.
  • Be prepared for weather situations and radio in any lightening sightings or thunder.
  • Be in possession of a tee sheet and radio in to starter any bottle necks that you are seeing.
  • Provide a welcoming experience for the golfer and make sure to ask if there is anything that you can do to make their day more enjoyable.
  • In slow times you are to go to cleaning area and take sand buckets out to course to fill in divots.

Things to avoid when working the Player Assistant Shift

  • Avoid being seen "fishing" for golf balls.
  • Avoid being seen going 1-18 (always 18 back to 1)
  • Avoid the staging area unless checking in with Starter on updates.
  • Avoid the parking lot unless coming from or going to lunch.
