The Director of Membership is perceived as the membership sales professional working with existing members as well as the outside community to cultivate prospective member leads. The daily roles and responsibilities include but not limited to include:

 

Membership Retention and Recruitment

  • Develop and implement membership plans for retention of current members and growth of new members.
  • Coordinate, manage, track, and evaluate all membership and renewal activities, including new member renewal, upgrades and potential member mailings.
  • Work with membership board to gain input and ideas and educate Member Board about Club policy.
  • Coordinate all details of membership meetings and receptions including development of materials
  • work with staff of various departments to obtain information for dissemination to Membership
  • Develop membership marketing and promotional materials, including applications, welcome kits, certificates, membership cards, and other collateral, in collaboration with the Graphics department.
  • Work with GM and Finance department to ensure financial tracking of membership including creating a budget and forecast and managing the forecast throughout the year.
  • Ensure membership reports are created on a monthly basis and benchmark reflect YOY measurements.

Website and Jonas Database

  • Along with Membership Coordinator, update and manage Member website and marketing materials for Member website and Club dissemination outlets.
  • Work with Membership Coordinator to coordinate membership information and communicate that information to the membership of each client. Coordinate ideas and messages for e-blast (FYI) and other announcements.
  • Along with Membership Administrator, manage Member information making updates on a regular basis

Membership Events

  • Along with Events Manager and Membership Coordinator help to create events, manage budget for events and market those events
  • Engagement with Members at events is recommended

Partnerships

  • Work with General Manager to ensure that partnerships and affiliations with external organizations are managed
  • Organize election of and manage Member Ambassador Program

Accounting

  • Working with Membership Administrator, input new Members into Jonas data base
  • Process all initial initiation payments and set up Members in billing system
  • Manage initiation spreadsheet for accurate collection of amounts owed

Other

  • Respond to requests for information from members and other constituents.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings
  • With GM, manage Member disagreements and issues with staff and Club

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years Membership experience in a large club setting
  • Positive and outgoing personality.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast paced, fluctuating task type of atmosphere that, at times, may be quite demanding.
  • This position requires a high level of skill and competency and the ability to work with limited supervision and make duty-related decisions. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an aptitude for working with and relating to a wide variety of personalities are of utmost importance.
  • Professional demeanor is expected at all times, with a strong work ethic and high energy and enthusiasm.
  • Basic knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint.
